Infosys 2012 - Layoffs, Paycuts and Suicides

A HR recruiter called me  - "There is a sudden surge in Infosys profiles in all job sites". Out of 10 candidates listed 4 are from Infy .. this was a rarest of rare .. you can't find many Infy profile if your search using Tech / Func terms. The recruiters used to search with Company name.

Things have changed a lot .. the majority of Infosys staff has sent feelers to their friends in other IT companies. This appraisal was very bad for the Infy employees and adding to it the message from management on deferring promotions and pay hikes.

Not just in job market - Infosys is now not trusted in matrimony  too .. Brides are no more interested in Infosys grooms and vice versa. This trend started generally with Software professionals . now spread to other areas also...

Who has to be blamed .. though many will point fingers and Shibulal and co .. the real culprit is Mr Narayanmurthy

He was the one who took the credit when Infy was flourishing and he has to be blamed for the fall .. after all nothing changed after he left .. his policy of 'serving' the customer by 'screwing' the employees didn't last long

Stress taking its toll in IT Industry

More and more suicides are reported from Narayan Murthy founded Infosys - The IT Bellwether of India

Most of the times the blame is on stress. Can a company with around 100,000 employees handle stress in a different way.

When I spoke on this issue with some in IT Community, they told that it was not Infy that kills people, it is their immediate superioirs who keep the pressure on sub-ords. The sub-ords mostly young are unable to handle the pressure and simply take the extreme step.

Though the above argument has some meat, still the superiors are Infosys (or generally any other company's) employees and they have to be trained to handle the stress and not to pass on.

Don't forget that there were more cases of sucides by Program managers and Project Managers ... Whom to blame?
