TamilNadu worse than UP and Bihar

The alleged irregularities in the run-up to the Tirumangalam by-election has put Tamil Nadu ahead of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar when it came to violating election code of conduct, CEC N Gopalaswami said.

The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on a personal visit to the city, parried questions regarding his department ordering registration of a criminal case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's son M K Stalin for allegedly distributing money to people in Tirumangalam, where a by-election is scheduled on 9th January.

The Election Commission, on Monday had directed officials to register a case against Stalin, also the Local Administration Minister, on charges of bribery.
